Sunday the 24th of July marked the 3rd round of Port Adelaide Cycling Club’s Crossfire Cup CX racing series. With 20mm of rain and 50km winds predicted we were looking forward to perfect Winter CX conditions to race in! Despite less than ideal spectating conditions, the racing brought out a surprising number of fans who cheered and heckled everyone who went past. The forecast didn’t disappoint, with rain falling steadily throughout course practice and wrecking havoc with the course. Hail even fell (twice!) during the A grade Men’s race, but it didn’t stop Chris Jongewaard again stomping his dominance with another strong win for the series. Current women’s national champion Lisa Jacobs made a surprise guest appearance in Women’s A, getting her national champs skinsuit nice and dirty and coming away with third place behind strong rides from Nat Redmond and Terri Rhodes who came second and first respectively. Despite the dreary weather, it was a great day out and another example of a fantastically run PACC event. All results can be seen here.
