Meet the team

Look for our team out riding in our kit to test it first-hand

Cycle Closet was founded by Julian (with encouragement from his wife Barbara), and originated from a passion for anything on two wheels. After noticing the lack of cycling apparel for riders in Adelaide, Julian literally decided to set the wheels in motion to fix this and in 2015 Cycle Closet was born.

Right from the start of his teenage years Julian was a keen cyclist who loved the outdoors and loved to train. A self-confessed fitness fanatic, Julian has been an obsessive exerciser for all of his life, starting with running and cycling then onto swimming. Julian has the distinction of never actually winning anything, but always having a go.

Afters years of tackling triathlons, distance bike racing and ocean swimming events Julian’s most recent feat was his second conquering of the feared Three Peaks cycling event in the Victorian high country. Julian has never been one to shy away from a challenge, and knows first-hand the importance of having the right kit to get him to the finish line.

Julian loves to watch cycling of any kind but more importantly loves being on wheels at least four times a week either on the open road, or on the dirt tracks.

Julian’s wife Barbara, commonly known to friends as Dr Babs, brings scientific knowledge from a 26 year career in Cancer Research. She is applying this to set-up an approachable blog about kit performance and related technical info.

Barbara shares an equal interest in cycling and enjoys watching live cycling, edpecially involving anyone from the Cycle Closet team. She mostly hits the stationary bike or along the bike paths. Barbara is an appreciator of what cycling has to offer. Together Julian and Barbara love nothing more than watching a recording of the Belgium one day classics with a wine in hand admiring the tough men and women who have a go.

Frances , Julian’s daughter, loves the outdoors and keeps fit in numerous ways. Although she has a heavy load for her professional job, Frances fits in frequent gym visits and flexes her muscles regularly helping with house renovations. Frances’s great eye for womens’ kit means Julian doesn’t stock the racks entirely with hi-viz orange road products or mountain bike kit made from boring fabrics.

Also, they have good insight on style!
